Sandy Newton, PhD

Licensed Psychologist

Bozeman, Montana

Welcome

As a psychologist in Montana, I work with individuals experiencing a variety of concerns, including unhealthy stress, anxiety, a diminished sense of connection and joy in life, significant transitions, and other issues impacting their well-being.

I offer a warm, collaborative, and strengths-based approach to therapy. I help clients improve their functioning and strengthen their capacity to handle the challenges of day-to-day life. I also support clients in deepening their self-awareness, increasing their understanding of their relational patterns, and living their lives in ways that are aligned with their needs and values.

I deeply value the opportunity to support my clients’ unique paths toward wellness and wholeness. I invite you to read more about my training and experience, services, and therapeutic approach. If you think we might be a good fit, I would love to talk more with you about how we might work together to support your growth and well-being.

Areas of practice and particular interest

I work with adults (18+) who may be experiencing distress in one or more areas of life and who are seeking greater well-being.

Areas of focus for my practice include:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Unhealthy stress

  • Relationship concerns

  • Past or current family issues

  • Grief and loss

  • Recent and past trauma

  • College mental health

I also tend to work well with clients who are:

  • Healing from challenging early-life experiences, including emotional neglect and other attachment wounds

  • Struggling with perfectionism and/or unhealthy self-reliance

  • Developing their capacities for emotional intimacy and self-compassion

  • Experiencing relationship concerns (with partners, friends, family members, colleagues, and others)

  • Navigating issues related to fertility and/or pregnancy

  • Coping with parenting issues

  • Experiencing other life changes and transitions, such as those related to illness and other health concerns, marriage/divorce, and job changes

  • Exploring and/or navigating issues related to their cultural and individual identities (such as LGBTQ+ issues)

Whatever brings us to therapy, therapy itself is a process that helps lead us to who we are.
